In Loving Memory of Maurice Blake

Thursday the 21st March, saw the inaugural two ball red, snooker competition in memory of Maurice Blake. An amazing 41 people entered the competition. This meant, with entry fees, a raffle and donations, we amassed an incredible total of £410. This has been donated to the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

A Loyal Club Member

Maurice, was a member of the club for many years and was a very much liked man and thoroughly enjoyed club-life. Maurice represented the club at snooker and also served a two year term on the clubs committee before his illness. Sadly Maurice passed away in November 2023.

An Exciting Final

A tense final was played out on the evening between Ian Woodworth and Justin McGlynn, with Justin taking the title and receiving the Maurice Blake Shield.

A Fitting Tribute

The evening was a fitting tribute to Maurice and it was great to see the evening being so well supported, which included several members of Maurice’s family. Wife Anne, sons James and Tom and several other relatives attended.

Anne commented that Maurice would have loved the event and it was wonderful to see so many of his friends come together in his memory, all while raising money for charity - the MND Association. The MND fund research, improve care and provide support for people with MND, their families and carers. To find out more you can visit their website by clicking here.

Thank You from Maurice’s Family and The Club

Thank you to all those that made the evening a great success, your contributions are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to running the event on an annual basis, in loving memory of Maurice.
